Pastor Al & Phyllis Ross,at Pastor Zane's request, joined the staff of Victory in 2002.  Thinking they were moving to Tucson to "retire," God had other ideas!  After noticing them in service for several months, Pastor Zane remarked to Pastor Jan, "He just looks like a preacher!"  Sure enough, and if you've ever heard Pastor Al preach, you know he gets just a little excited!  Victory is incredibly privileged to have a couple with the wisdom and experience of the Ross' as part of our staff.

Pastor All was born in Belleville, Illinois in 1931, and grew up in Peoria.  Though he grew up in church, it would be at the age of twenty that Pastor Al surrendered his life to the Lord.  in 1951, after joining the Marines, he received numerous opportunities to minister, and upon his discharge in 1953, felt a definite call to ministry.

In 1954, he enrolled in Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri to prepare himself for ministry.  It was during this time, while attending First Assembly of God in Peoria, Illinois, that he met and married Phyllis Long.

In 1958, after graduation, Pastor Al & Phyllis became evangelists for a few years, and then accepted a pastorate in Ohio in 1960.  In 1965, God moved them to Kettering Assembly of God where they pastored until August, 2000 - 35 years if you're counting!.  During this time Pastor Al also served as a presbyter in the Ohio District Council of the Assemblies of God.

After 50 years of ministry, Pastor Al & Phyllis are still going strong, currently leading our Senior's Ministry and often filling the pulpit in Pastor Zane's absence. They have two children.  Their son, Tom, lives in Tucson.  Their daughter, Rhonda, lives in Long Beach, California with her family, including Pastor Al & Phyllis' two grandchildren.
